What is a ship loading conveyor?
The transfer systems that have the task of loading bulk materials and other products into the ship are called ship loading conveyors. In the Latin word, we call these conveyors, Ship Loader, usually by means of these systems, the operation of loading bulk materials from the Samson Feeder to the ship or vice versa is done. Usually, ship loaders are produced in two ways, fixed and telescopic, according to the type of material. For the production of these conveyors, the size and smallness of the ship is the criterion, and the type of conveyor is designed and produced accordingly. Also, because these conveyors are mobile, they can be used in different parts of ports.
Types of ship loading conveyors and their differences
Ship loading conveyor, like other transmission systems, has different types. In this section, we discuss the different types of this conveyor:
- Fixed ship loading conveyor: This type of conveyor is used in large ports that are always busy loading materials around the clock. In such cases, due to the absence of interruptions in loading operations, the conveyor is used continuously in one place. In such cases, there is no need for it to be mobile, and due to its high capacity, in order to increase work efficiency, this system is installed on a fixed base. The only difference between this system and other types is that it is fixed and non-portable.
- Mobile or mobile ship loading conveyor: This type of ship loading conveyors are usually used in cases of need due to their low capacity. So these systems do not have a fixed use and these conveyors are used in different parts of the port. For these conveyors to be mobile, they use trolley wheels under the chassis of this system. The difference of this type of system is that it is mobile.
- Telescopic ship loading conveyor: The structure of this category of ship loading conveyor is designed in a way that has the ability to increase its length. This means that the length of the chassis increases gradually when loading. After each stage of the depot, the length of the chassis is gradually reduced. The difference between these systems is the ability to increase the length of the chassis, and they can be produced as fixed telescopic or mobile telescopic.
Conveyor ship loader and international standards in the maritime transport industry
Any system for production needs to comply with global standards, which include the conveyor ship loader. There are certain standards in terms of structure structure of conveyor ship loader, which if they are produced according to these standards, they can be used all over the world. On the other hand, international maritime transport organizations have defined standards and regulations for the construction of these conveyors that prevent damage to the sea and natural resources.
Use of Conveyor Ship Loader in related industries
Some of the related industries that use ship loading conveyors are as follows:
- Oil and gas industries: In these industries, it is necessary to use ship loader conveyors to transfer petroleum products into ships. No alternative system can be used to perform this operation. Because it does not have such positive and high efficiency.
- Loading of oil derivatives: usually, oil and gas derivatives are exported to other countries by ports. To load these products to ships, a telescopic ship loading conveyor is used.
- Loading bulk and powder materials: In some ports, ship loading conveyors are used to load bulk and powder materials to ships and barges.
Importance and application of ship loading conveyor in loading and unloading
In shipping ports and docks, there is a high tonnage of materials and products to be loaded onto ships. For this reason, the strength and production method of ship loading conveyors is very important. Among the applications of ship loading conveyors are as follows:
- Ports: Usually in the country’s ports, loading and unloading conveyors are needed for the depot and loading of bulk materials, grains and other similar products. These conveyors must be able to work outside the dock area. For this reason, the use of ship loader conveyors is necessary in all ports of the country.
- Loading to barge: Barge is the floating ships that are only responsible for the transportation of various goods between ports. The loading of heavy goods to the barge is carried out by ship loading conveyors.
